A New England contractor is hiring a Chief Estimator to run its estimating department, with a defined path to VP of Estimating and Preconstruction. BELMONT Search is a Construction and Infrastructure executive search firm.

THE ROLE

You own the number. Bid strategy, hard bid and negotiated pricing, the go or no go call, and the estimators who work for you.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• The estimating department, staffing included
• Bid strategy and the go or no go call, with ownership in the room
• Hard bid and negotiated work, conceptual budgets through GMP
• Subcontractor coverage and scope review that catches the gap early
• Developing the estimators under you
• Cost history and the discipline that makes the next bid sharper

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ten or more years estimating, several of them leading other estimators
• Priced $10M packages and up
• Able to defend a number in a room full of operators
• A record your bids held once the work was under construction

COMPENSATION

Base of $150,000 to $200,000.
