Growing together.The Per Diem Health Information Management (HIM) Associate is responsible for timely and efficient processing of patient/health information including, but not limited to, customer service, chart prepping, scanning, indexing, deficiency analysis, vital statistics, retrieving/filing/posting/processing of reports and records, chart location and pick-up from nursing units, and assisting physicians with patient record completion.This position is per diem, must be available between the hours of Monday - Friday, and the hours of 8:00 am - 4:30 pm to pick up shifts and to work at least two shifts per month. Our office is located at 43 Whiting Hill Rd., Third Floor, Brewer, ME 04412. This is where the main coverage would be but you could cover any of the 9 hospitals in the area.This will be on the job training and the hours during training will be during normal business hours.Primary Responsibilities:Completes scanning, deficiency analysis, vital statistics, and release of information functions adhering to HIPAA, State & Federal statues on release of information, and Joint Commission/CMS requirements for chart completionSafeguard patient's protected health information at all timesMust be able to go to the nursing units to pick up chartsPack charts in boxes or bags for scanningAnalyze charts to ensure documentation completion and assign missing items to practitioners according to hospital policies and proceduresComplete weekly reporting of deficiencies according to hospital policies and proceduresComplete monthly Audit on hospital charts on the nursing units to ensure documentation completion according to hospital policies/procedures, and Regulatory bodies standards (Joint Commission, CMS, HFAP)Answer incoming calls for the Release of Information call centerAbstract required information in the Cerner and the ROI applicationMaintain established quality & productivity benchmarksLog requests pertaining to continuing care and patient/authorized representative requestsMaintains and exhibits current knowledge of profession and completes required continuing educationMaintains a safe environment complying with NLH policies and procedures; reports and directly addresses environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observedTravel to any of the 9 hospitals to provide coverage as neededAbility to do tasks remotely as neededMay perform other duties upon requestYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:High School Diploma / GEDMust be 18 years of age OR older1+ years of healthcare customer service experience analyzing and solving customer problemsProficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel (ability to create, edit, save and send documents and spreadsheets)Ability to work onsite at 43 Whiting Hill Rd., Brewer, ME 04412, and provide coverage at other hospital locations within the surrounding area as business needs requireFull Flu vaccination are an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate Flu booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 - $29.00 per hour based on full-time employment.
