Director of Communications, Financial Services

The job

The most important companies in finance are full of important stories that never get told well.

They’re buried in regulation, jargon, and products most people don’t understand. Your job is to uncover those stories and make the companies behind them known, in the outlets, podcasts, newsletters and rooms where influence is built.

At a large firm, you are one cog in a massive machine. Here, you run the account, counseling founders, CEOs and executives at the moment their company goes from unknown to known, and you decide how they show up; whether that's a Wall Street Journal exclusive, in a podcast their customers listen to, or at a dinner where the next stories begin.

You’ll work directly with our CEO and Founder and manage a Senior Associate.

We help frontier technology companies in AI, fintech, digital assets, capital markets and enterprise tech earn trust where it matters and turn that credibility into lasting influence as they scale.

We’re a small, senior team of former journalists, frontier tech operators, and new-media strategists.

Our principles are as follows: We move fast, because our clients operate in markets that move daily and we believe speed wins. We obsess over craft, because a complex, regulated business only becomes newsworthy when we find the quote or datapoint that stops an editor in their tracks. We think like owners, because everyone here is responsible for taking an account, growing it, and answering for the results. We’re growing, and we need more A players on the pirate ship.

What you’ll do

This is not a coverage-tracker job. You won't spend your days formatting reports or waiting on approvals from three layers above you. You'll be in the room with the CEO, and the work breaks into four parts:

• Own client accounts end to end: strategy, storytelling, and results. You'll also manage and develop a Senior Associate.
• Land top-tier coverage. Bring real relationships with the reporters and editors who cover financial services and adjacent regulated sectors, and grow them on our clients' behalf.
• Expand our new-media layer: podcasts, newsletters, YouTube and creators. You'll decide which independent voices matter for each client and get them there before the mainstream story runs.
• Design in-person experiences. CEO dinners, conference presence, roundtables, launch and earnings-week programs. Events are where relationships get made and where the next quarter's coverage starts, and you'll own them.

What you bring

• A record of leading client accounts and growing them.
• Communications experience in financial services, or another technical, regulated sector. Financial services is the focus.
• Real relationships with tier-one media, plus the clips to prove it.
• The ability to make complex, regulated businesses newsworthy.
• Fluency in new media: you know which podcasts and newsletters move a market and have placed clients on them.
• Experience building events that produce coverage and relationships, not just attendance.

Bonus: experience in AI, digital assets, or another regulated sector such as healthcare.

This role isn’t for you if

You need a large team beneath you, you're still building your media relationships, or you think earned media and new media are two different jobs.

Compensation

$140–200K base plus performance upside. Compensation will depend on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience, which may fall outside the range listed.
