Child Life Specialist-Cystic Fibrosis Clinic

Overview SUNY Upstate is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Child Life Specialist to be part of Upstate's Pediatric Child Life Team, working for the Cystic Fibrosis Clinic in a part-time role to support patients and families in the Greater Syracuse-Auburn Area with this disease. Responsibilities Provide developmental and psychosocial support for pediatric patients and families. Assess children's developmental and coping needs. Provide preparation, age-appropriate diversion and emotional support to minimize distress associated with hospitalization and/or medical encounters. Collaborates as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, Psychology or related field. Must have completed a Child Life Internship under the direct supervision of a Certified Child Life Specialist. Current Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) credential required or ability to obtain certification within one year of hire. Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree preferred.
