Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of experience and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

• Work on a 32-bed medical/surgical unit known as the Medical Innovation Unit, focused on adopting new technology and nursing practice models
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:00)
• Every other weekend PM shift required
• Holiday rotation required, including one summer and one winter holiday
• Floating required at times to cover staffing needs
• Meditech charting system experience preferred
• Hercules beds used on the unit

Requirements

• Active RN license (VA or Compact) required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skills such as IV therapy/phlebotomy and starting/maintaining IVs required
• Experience with wound care/wound vac, tracheostomy care, central line blood draws, and chest tube management preferred
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and rapid response/code team protocols preferred
• Fit testing required, which may require shaving facial hair unless a pre-approved medical exemption is provided
• Drug screen required during compliance and again on first day onsite
• Zero-tolerance policy for THC, including medical marijuana cards

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a medical/surgical unit emphasizing innovative nursing practices and new technology adoption
• Staff are assigned to self-scheduling groups that rotate weekly
• RTO policy: if one holiday falls during the assignment expect to work it, if two expect to work one, if three expect to work two
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates who worked in a permanent role at this facility within the past 24 months will not be considered
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• On the first day, RN will complete a drug screen at Employee Health before starting their first shift the following day
