Job Title: Batch Operator Job Description

This hybrid role involves the safe and efficient driving of a yard switcher and the loading of finished goods and raw materials into bulk tank wagons. The role requires weighing tankers in and out, ensuring all paperwork matches the assigned tanker and materials. Proper staging of the tanker and thorough inspection and connection of storage tanks or blend vessels before loading are essential. Effective communication skills are needed to report any issues or delays to supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Drive yard switcher safely and efficiently.
• Load finished goods and raw materials into bulk tank wagons.
• Weigh tankers in and out, ensuring paperwork accuracy.
• Stage tankers properly and inspect connections before loading.
• Report issues or delays to shift supervisors.
• Move trailers on-site to support production.
• Transport drum trailers between the dock and the yard as needed.

Essential Skills

• Ability to move drums up to 500 pounds safely with a hilo.
• Forklift certification from previous jobs.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Capacity to stand for long periods and walk great distances daily.
• Ability to work in small spaces and high locations.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift bags and containers up to 50 pounds safely.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge of chemicals.
• Experience as a Chemical Operator.

Work Environment

The work environment can be cold in the winter due to open doors and hot in the summer. It is a dirty environment, but operators work in a supportive team atmosphere, often working independently.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Detroit, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.50 - $20.50/hr.
