Lead Technician

Position Overview

The Lead Low Voltage Technician is responsible for installing, servicing, and maintaining complex IP-based low-voltage systems in commercial and industrial environments. This role involves working with integrated systems such as access control, video surveillance, nurse call systems, intrusion detection, and structured cabling. The position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to lead and coordinate work in both independent and team-based settings.

This is a fully on-site role involving travel to multiple client locations within a defined service area.

Key Responsibilities

Installation, Troubleshooting & Repair

• Install, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex low-voltage and network-based systems
• Work with systems including:
• Access control
• IP and analog video surveillance
• Nurse call systems
• Intrusion detection systems
• Structured cabling and network infrastructure
• Identify issues related to network architecture, protocols, and system integration

⚙️ System Integration & Commissioning

• Lead and perform system integrations and commissioning activities
• Ensure systems are properly configured, tested, and fully operational
• Collaborate with technical teams to optimize system functionality

Project Coordination & Leadership

• Coordinate with subcontractors and internal teams to ensure timely project completion
• Provide technical direction and support to field technicians when needed
• Maintain accountability for project execution and system performance

Customer Interaction

• Serve as the primary point of contact on-site for customers
• Provide clear communication and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction
• Identify opportunities to enhance services or provide additional value

Documentation & Operations

• Complete all required documentation, reports, and service records accurately and on time
• Maintain company equipment, tools, vehicles, and materials in good working condition
• Follow all safety, operational, and quality standards

Required Skills

• Hands-on experience with:
• Access control systems
• IP video surveillance systems
• Low-voltage system installation and service
• Strong knowledge of:
• Network architecture and protocols
• Fiber optics and structured cabling systems
• Database and system configurations
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and system documentation
• Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Strong communication and customer service skills

• Industry certifications in low-voltage or security systems

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Formal training in electrical or low-voltage systems preferred

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in the security or low-voltage industry
• At least 3+ years in a leadership or lead technician role

Work Environment & Schedule

• Primarily on-site at client locations within a regional service radius
• Standard schedule: Monday–Friday day shift
• Occasional after-hours, weekend work, and overnight travel as needed
