The Tax Criminal Investigations Division is looking to fill one (1) Tax Criminal Investigations Agent position to work in the Southwest Region of the State. Responsibilities Conduct criminal investigations of tax violations Gather evidence, perform surveillance, undercover operations, and interviews Serve warrants and testify in court proceedings Access and analyze data from law enforcement databases Prepare detailed case reports and support legal prosecution Conduct tax inspections, deliver assessments, and assist with audits All applicants interested in working in the Southwest Region must reside in or border the region to be considered for this position. Qualifications Possession of an active OPOTA certificate issued by the Ohio Attorney General, or completion of 20 years of active duty as a peace officer. Must attach a scanned copy of the OPOTA certificate. Either 2 years of training or 2 years of experience in law enforcement or a comparable field (e.g., a criminal justice associate's degree or 2 years' experience as a law enforcement agent). Applicants with relevant degrees must attach unofficial academic transcripts. A valid driver's license. Must attach a legible, scanned copy of the driver's license. OR an equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above. Note: You must attach documentation of your valid OPOTA certificate, driver's license, and academic transcripts (if necessary) to be considered for this position. Probationary period is one year. The final applicant must successfully pass background checks required by appointing authority. The final applicant accepted for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to test for illegal drug use. An applicant with a positive test result will not be offered employment, per section 123:1-76-09 of the Ohio Administrative Code. Training and Development required to remain in the classification after employment: Requires travel; operates police type emergency vehicle; exposed to confined areas during surveillance for hours; may be exposed to physical harm during raids & searches & while serving warrants & subpoenas; exposed to varying weather conditions & fluctuations in working hours while making arrest; requires working undercover or covertly. Residency requirement: Vacancy postings for bargaining unit positions must contain the note regarding the residency requirement. Per article 26 D of the FOP2 contract, positions posted after the effective date of this agreement shall require the employee to live within his/her assigned district, or satellite district, or counties adjoining the county in which the district or satellite district office is located.
