School Custodian Full Time 2026-2027 School Year Key Responsibilities Clean and sanitize classrooms, hallways, restrooms, cafeteria, offices, and common areas on a daily basis. Refill restroom and classroom supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper. Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust surfaces as needed. Empty trash and recycling bins and dispose of waste properly. Perform minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and basic repairs. Set up and break down furniture and equipment for school functions and activities. Maintain cleanliness of school grounds, including snow removal, sweeping sidewalks, and trash pickup. Secure the building, including locking doors, setting alarms, and ensuring all areas are safe after school hours. Report any safety hazards, maintenance needs, or unusual issues to the Facilities Manager or administration. Follow all health and safety procedures, including appropriate use of cleaning agents and personal protective equipment. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous custodial or maintenance experience is helpful but not required. Ability to use standard custodial equipment and cleaning chemicals safely and effectively. Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., and to perform tasks that require bending, walking, and standing for extended periods. Reliable, self‑motivated, and able to work independently. Good communication and teamwork skills. Must pass a background check and meet all state and school district requirements for employment in a public school setting.
