Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting a bright elementary student as a 1:1 paraprofessional for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This specialized role focuses on providing tailored educational assistance and communicating through American Sign Language (ASL) in an inclusive, supportive classroom environment.

Your expertise in ASL—whether fluent or at a motivated, basic level—will be critical in helping this young student thrive. You'll work closely with an experienced Individualized Education Program (IEP) team dedicated to advancing the student’s success and growth. The position is full-time, with approximately 35 hours per week in a well-resourced school setting.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Demonstrated knowledge of American Sign Language (fluent speakers encouraged; basic proficiency with a commitment to ongoing learning also considered)
• Prior experience as a paraprofessional in an educational setting is highly desirable
• Dedication to working one-on-one with students requiring specialized support
• Ability to steadily commute within the Forest Lake area and flexibility for geographic spread
• Strong communication and collaborative skills, particularly within a multidisciplinary team

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide direct support throughout the school day to an elementary student using ASL
• Collaborate with teachers, special educators, and therapists to implement the student's IEP strategies
• Foster a positive, supportive learning atmosphere where the student can engage confidently
• Utilize and expand ASL skills through ongoing interaction and optional additional training
• Maintain clear and compassionate communication with staff and student’s family as needed
