Incumbent serves as first point of contact for patients in the ambulatory clinics, performing general clerical and reception duties.
Responsibilities
Position Summary:
Incumbent serves as first point of contact for patients in the ambulatory clinics, performing general clerical and reception duties. Enters patient data to the registration system and verifies insurance and/or third party coverage. Schedules, confirms and cancels patient appointments.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Must be able to work weekends/holidays
- Demonstrated experience using office equipment such as a printer, copier, fax, scanner
- Demonstrated experience using multi-line telephone system
- Demonstrated experience using a computer, including data entry and retrieval
- Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to make simple calculations and perform simple math
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
- Ability to effectively read, write and speak English
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology
- Demonstrated knowledge of insurance programs and/or government programs
- Demonstrated experience working with TDS, Signature, IDX
- Demonstrated experience working in registration, scheduling and/or authorization process
- Demonstrated experience working in a hospital or medical office setting
- Bilingual skill in Spanish or Vietnamese or Chinese
