Align Broadband | Full time | On site, Baltimore, MD We need one person to manage access control, video and intercom systems the way an integrator knows them, and who can also work the network they ride on. You will be the person the property manager, the chief engineer and the tenants call when a door does not open, a camera goes dark, a new tenant needs an intercom, or a fob from another building has to be loaded. You will also be the person who makes sure none of that breaks while we rebuild the network underneath it. This is a hands-on role. Some days are in a closet with a tone generator and a fob. Some days are at a workstation in Genetec Config Tool. Most days are both. What you will do Own day-to-day operation of the campus Genetec Security Center platform: Omnicast video, Synergis access control, Sipelia intercom. Archivers, Directory, failover, Cloud Link controllers, licensing, backups, user and cardholder administration. Take over the campus from the outgoing integrator: document what is installed, where it is, how it is wired, and what state it is in, then run it. Program, troubleshoot and replace door hardware: Mercury controllers, HID and STid readers, strikes and maglocks, request-to-exit, door contacts. Diagnose reader dropouts and credential problems and fix them. Enroll and manage credentials: fobs, cards, mobile credentials, across 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz technologies. Know a Prox fob from an iCLASS SE from a Seos credential by looking at it, and know which readers on campus read which. Install and program 2N tenant intercoms: door stations, in-suite answering units, mobile app users, directory entries. Keep the intercom path working through network changes. Keep cameras recording: Hanwha and Axis IP cameras, archiver storage, failover, camera adds and moves, video retrieval for property management and security. Work the network layer the security systems ride on: Ruckus ICX switching, VLANs, PoE budgets, static addressing, Ruckus SmartZone WiFi. Understand routing well enough to know why a server on the wrong subnet cannot be reached, and to fix it. Support the migration of the Genetec head end from the data center to the campus MDF, and the cutover of the campus network to Align's gateway and controllers, without an access-control or camera outage. Scope and price small projects for the property: a new loading dock reader, a tenant intercom, a camera add. Walk the site, write the list, do the work. Be on campus. Carry the phone. Respond to the property's 24-hour line when it is a network or security systems problem. What you need Five or more years hands-on with commercial access control and video, including at least two years administering Genetec Security Center (Synergis and Omnicast at minimum). Genetec certification (GTC or higher) strongly preferred. Field experience installing and troubleshooting door hardware and readers on Mercury-based panels. You have pulled a reader off a wall and put a new one on, and you know what a 26-bit Wiegand format is. Working knowledge of credential technologies: HID Prox, iCLASS, Seos, MIFARE and DESFire, and the difference between a reader spec sheet and a fob spec. IP intercom experience; 2N specifically is a strong plus. Networking: VLANs, static and DHCP addressing, PoE, basic routing. Comfortable in a switch CLI. Ruckus ICX and SmartZone experience is a plus; so is MikroTik, FortiGate or any serious firewall. Able to read a riser diagram and a door schedule, and to produce one when none exists. Able to write a clear email to a property manager and a clear change note to an engineer. Based in or willing to relocate to the Baltimore area. This job cannot be done remotely. Valid driver's license. Maryland low-voltage license or ability to work under one is a plus. You have kept a security system up through a network cutover or server move. You have both an integrator's hands and an engineer's head, and you are tired of being told to pick one.
