Job Title: Reach Truck Driver / Order Picker (1st Shift) ($21.00/hr.)

Job Description

The Reach Truck Driver / Order Picker plays a key role in a busy distribution center, accurately picking customer orders, operating reach trucks in high-bay racking systems, and supporting daily warehouse operations. Responsibilities

• Receive daily pick lists from warehouse clerks at the start of each shift and review order requirements.
• Use a scan gun to locate, identify, and pick orders throughout the warehouse with a high level of accuracy.
• Pick customer orders that may range from 1 to more than 15 product lines per order, ensuring correct quantities and item selection.
• Operate a reach truck approximately 90–95% of the day to move, retrieve, and place inventory safely and efficiently.
• Retrieve products from double-deep racking systems up to four stories high while maintaining safe operating practices at height.
• Stage picked orders in designated areas, wrap pallets securely, and prepare shipments for outbound loading.
• Put away incoming inventory and replenish warehouse locations to maintain accurate stock levels and support order fulfillment.
• Load and unload trucks throughout the day, ensuring products are handled carefully and placed in correct locations.
• Cross-train and perform multiple warehouse functions as needed to support overall team productivity and flexibility.
• Maintain productivity expectations of approximately five pick lines per hour while meeting quality and accuracy standards.
• Assist with warehouse cleanup and organization during the last 15 minutes of the shift to keep the facility clean and safe.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, especially when working at heights and operating material handling equipment.
• Support a fast-paced distribution environment by working efficiently, communicating with team members, and adapting to changing priorities.
• Be open to staying until 4:30 PM based on business needs and working overtime, including occasional Saturdays during peak summer months.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of recent reach truck operating experience, with double-deep racking experience preferred.
• Proficiency using a scan gun to locate, pick, and track inventory in a distribution or warehouse environment.
• Ability to read and interpret pick tickets and work efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse setting.
• Capability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis and up to 75 pounds when required.
• Comfort working safely at heights while operating reach trucks in high-bay racking systems up to four stories.
• Willingness to work overtime, including extended shifts and occasional Saturdays during peak summer months.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in picking, staging, and replenishing inventory.
• Commitment to following safety protocols and maintaining a clean, organized work area.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in distribution center operations, including loading and unloading trucks and staging outbound orders.
• Familiarity with double-deep racking systems and high-bay warehouse layouts.
• Exposure to warehouse technology such as scan guns and inventory systems; experience with SAP or similar systems is beneficial.
• Ability to cross-train and perform multiple warehouse functions to support team needs.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and reliability, with a focus on meeting productivity and quality goals.

Work Environment

The role is based in a distribution center that supports a wide range of adhesive, sealant, and specialty material products used in commercial and residential roofing systems, construction and building products, industrial applications, packaging materials, woodworking and manufacturing, and consumer products found in retail stores. The facility operates with a small on-site team of around 10 employees, creating a close-knit, collaborative atmosphere. Although it is a distribution center, it is heated in the winter and maintains comfortable temperatures in the summer. The standard shift runs from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with the expectation of staying until 4:30 PM when business needs require it. Breaks include a 15-minute morning break from 9:00 AM to 9:15 AM, a 30-minute lunch from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM, and a final 15-minute break at the end of the shift. The environment is fast-paced and safety-focused, with frequent use of reach trucks, scan guns, and high-bay, double-deep racking systems. Employees spend most of the day operating material handling equipment, moving inventory, and supporting order fulfillment in a clean, organized warehouse setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
