Substation Project Manager

Location: Albany, NY or Clifton Park, NY Our client is looking for an experienced Substation Project Manager to join their growing Transmission & Distribution team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the delivery of high-profile substation projects for major utility clients across the Capital Region. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects from pre-construction through completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities Manage the full lifecycle of substation construction projects, including planning, execution, commissioning, and closeout. Lead project teams to successfully deliver projects while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, schedule, and budget. Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource plans. Coordinate with engineering teams, field operations, subcontractors, suppliers, and utility clients throughout all phases of project delivery. Monitor project performance, proactively identify risks, and implement solutions to ensure successful outcomes. Manage contract administration, change orders, procurement, cost control, and project reporting. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, serving as the primary point of contact throughout project execution. Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company policies, client requirements, and applicable safety regulations. Qualifications Proven experience managing Substation construction projects within the Transmission & Distribution industry. Strong understanding of utility construction, project controls, scheduling, budgeting, and contract management. Experience working with investor-owned utilities, municipalities, or EPC contractors. Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent communication, leadership, and client relationship management skills. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred. PMP certification or equivalent project management credentials are advantageous but not required.
