• Schedule: Day shifts and beeper call coverage; start times may vary depending on scheduled cases
• Shift Hours: 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM for floor shifts; 6:00 PM - 7:30 AM for night call
• Lunch: 30-minute unpaid lunch
• Call: Weeknight beeper call and 24-hour weekend beeper call
• Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 60 days

Job Requirements

• Active Physician Assistant license and current CV required
• Board certification required
• DEA required
• ACLS and BLS required
• At least 1 year of experience in cardiovascular or cardiothoracic surgery preferred
• Ability to manage inpatient rounding, clinic follow-up, and first assist responsibilities
• Strong procedural and diagnostic skills, including interpretation of EKGs, X-rays, and labs
• Experience with endoscopic vein harvest, radial artery harvesting, ECMO, IABP, and Impella preferred
• Comfort working in a collaborative surgical environment with variable start times and call coverage

Responsibilities

• Round on post-operative inpatients and support daily care planning
• First assist in surgery for cardiovascular/cardiothoracic cases
• Provide clinic follow-up care and ongoing patient management
• Participate in weekday and weekend beeper call coverage
• Interpret EKGs, chest X-rays, laboratory results, and other clinical data
• Support advanced cardiac and surgical procedures, including ECMO, IABP, and Impella management
• Perform or assist with endoscopic and radial artery harvesting as needed
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a busy surgical setting with 5-8 patient encounters per shift
