Warehouse Operator

Job Title Warehouse Operator – Wage/Hour. Reports to Warehouse Supervisor. Pay Grade: Manual Grade 3. Department: Warehouse. Last revised: June 26, 2024. Primary Purpose Assist in receiving, storing, issuing and delivering equipment, tools, and supplies, maintaining inventory control, and performing required recordkeeping in the district warehouse. Qualifications High school diploma or GED Valid Texas driver's license (Class C) Ability to operate hand tools and mechanical equipment, including a forklift. Ability to read supply requisitions and perform basic arithmetic. Ability to operate light truck. Two years’ experience with deliveries and inventory control procedures. Major Responsibilities and Duties Receiving Verify accuracy of shipments by counting, measuring items, and comparing size, weight, description, and code numbers with shipment information. Record any discrepancies or damage. Open crates and containers with hand tools to unpack items. Inspect shipments for damage and defects. Move inventory to various locations manually and by operating mechanical equipment including forklift, pallet jack, and handcart. Sort and store items according to established procedures. Take physical counts periodically of the inventory. Requisition additional supplies from the purchasing department as needed. Maintain custody receipts for items being repaired and loaned out temporarily. Distribution Read and fill requisitions for stock items. Verify accuracy of orders pulled. Drive truck to various locations to deliver materials. Obtain authorized signature for supplies requested. Load and unload delivery truck by hand or using a hand truck. Safety Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles according to prescribed safety procedures. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, carrying, etc. Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately. Supervisory Responsibilities None. Equipment Used Hand tools, forklift, ladder, dolly, pallet jack, handtruck, and light truck (less than 26,000 lbs.). Working Conditions Mental demands / physical demands / environmental factors: Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching; heavy lifting and carrying. Work outside and inside; work around machinery with moving parts; work around moving objects or vehicles; work on ladders and scaffolding.
