Summary: Provide essential patient care with a focus on nephrology during night shifts. Assist with patient admissions, orientation, and daily care routines while maintaining a safe and clean environment. Monitor and report any changes in patient condition promptly. Major Responsibilities:
Education and Formal Training: High school diploma or equivalent required. Nursing Assistant certification mandatory. Current registration as Nursing Assistant II with the state nursing board and Nursing Assistant I with the Division of Facility Services. Experience: Prior experience as Nursing Assistant I preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to read and write English. Willingness to accept supervision and work flexible schedules. Basic computer skills and understanding of age-specific patient care considerations. Ability to learn new skills and techniques quickly. Physical Requirements: Ability to work variable shifts with frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and patient turning. Visual and auditory acuity necessary for patient observation. Exposure to blood and body fluids may occur. Licenses and Certifications: BLS certification from the American Heart Association and current Nursing Assistant certification required. This role serves a diverse regional population in the Southeastern United States, providing compassionate care in a supportive team environment.
- Support patient admissions including orientation to unit routines and equipment.
- Respond to patient needs directly or by notifying appropriate staff.
- Carry out delegated nursing care tasks to support the nursing care plan.
- Maintain patient safety through proper use of equipment and supplies.
- Manage supply rooms and ensure patient care areas are well-stocked and clean.
- Participate in cost containment and accurate patient service charging.
- Engage in educational and performance improvement activities.
- Perform additional skills such as phlebotomy, 12-lead EKG, and waived lab testing as trained and competent.
- Demonstrate responsibility in customer satisfaction and patient throughput.
