Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery (Charge Nurse)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract (13 or 26 Weeks) | Nights | 3x12 or 4x12 | 19:00–07:30 | Every Other Weekend Required | Expected 60 hours per two-week period (traveler may be called off for one 12-hour shift per two-week period)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to Labor & Delivery patients in a high-risk OB unit, including patients undergoing inductions and high-risk antepartum care
• Regularly function in the Charge Nurse role , overseeing unit operations and staff coordination during night shifts
• Manage patient care across OB Triage, LDR rooms, OR suites, and PACU in a high-volume environment averaging up to 14 patients daily
• Float to like units within the facility or affiliate locations as needed to meet patient care demands
• Document patient care accurately using Epic electronic health records
• Participate in holiday coverage, with an expectation to work two of the three major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's

Required Qualifications

• Active Alaska RN license (pending license accepted for submission; license must be in hand prior to offer finalization — estimated 10–12 weeks processing time)
• Charge Nurse experience required ; facility may consider candidates willing to train in the Charge Nurse role
• Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery RN experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, and AWHONN Advanced
• Hepatitis B vaccine required; titers and declinations are not accepted
• 2 references covering at least 1 year of experience (within the last 3 years) required prior to start
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience with high-risk OB populations, including antepartum and triage patients
• Familiarity with Epic charting system
• Experience working in a Magnet-designated or teaching hospital environment
