Registered NurseThe Emma L. Bowen Community Service Center is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team. This position is a terrific opportunity for someone to gain additional experience and make a difference in the lives of our clients. For over 45 years, our organization has provided mental health and holistic services in northern Manhattan for families, children, adolescents, and other adults including the elderly in a supportive and caring environment. We also have an out-patient and residential substance abuse program as well as a Therapeutic Preschool for 3-5 year olds.Upper Manhattan Mental Health Center is a Certified National Health Service Corps (NHSC) site.Responsibilities include:Perform the registration and processing of all patients entering the facility for careResponsible for taking and recording patients' vital signs during the triage functionPerform laboratory specimen collection as ordered by the medical providerSchedules patients for annual physicals, semi annuals and lab recallsSets appointments for referrals and follow-up calls when necessaryObtain results for the Laboratory Information System and submit the results with the patient's chart to the appropriate partiesEnsure that proper billing is conducted or applied to abnormal laboratory, referrals, or diagnostic resultsDirect all incoming telephone calls to appropriate parties and take messages when necessaryOversees psychiatrist and NP schedulingMake reminder phone calls to all clients on provider's scheduleEnsures all prescribers notes are inEscorts patients to the Doctor, Nurse Practitioner and Primary CareEnsures the collection of urine specimens for drug screeningsEnters patient information into the computer. Updates as necessaryAssist with all clerical functions when necessaryMaintaining and securing patient's medical recordsRetrieves medical records for medical departmentFiles completed lab work in medical recordsMaintains a safe environment for patientsMonitor waiting area and patient flowEnsure that all necessary forms are completed and signed by a medical provider and patient prior to patient releaseFollowing the doctor's orders and treatment plansCollaborating with other medical professionalsAdministering medications and monitoring responses to medication, inclusive of Administering Injectables: Psychotropic Long Acting Injectables and Medication Assisted Treatment.Completing Health Assessments and documenting the sameDocumentation of Nursing Notes.Conducting screenings and evaluations and monitoring patientsEducating patients and family membersCompleting Prior Authorization.Communicating with other care team membersDocumenting all treatments, medications, and other patient care aspects in medical recordsResponding to emergency psychiatric situationsProvides in-service Nursing Training as supertrainer as may be deemed appropriate for facility certification.Performs other related duties to meet clinic needs and requirementsRequirements include:Must have a New York State RN LicensureMust be a graduate from an approved accredited schoolOne (1) year experience Psychiatric RN experienceCPR certificationNaloxone New York TOD Certification of Completion (Preferred)
