The company designs, engineers, and installs custom luxury interiors and advanced aircraft systems for airliner-derivative business jets. Comlux also offers scheduled and unscheduled maintenance services. Specializing in highly customized aircraft, Comlux transforms aircraft into personalized flying environments that reflect exceptional craftsmanship, precision engineering, and uncompromising safety. Role Description The Operational Planner is the second level within the Planning career ladder and is responsible for independently managing planning activities that support aircraft completion and modification projects. Building upon the foundational skills developed as an Associate Planner, this role owns the planning and coordination of materials, fabrication requirements, task card execution, and production readiness to ensure aircraft schedules remain on track. The Operational Planner interprets engineering drawings, develops material requirements, creates procurement requisitions, manages bill of materials (BOM) structures, and coordinates internally fabricated components to support production schedules. This position serves as a critical link between Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, Purchasing, and Back Shops, proactively identifying and resolving material or schedule risks before they impact aircraft delivery milestones. Essential Job Functions Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions to identify material, fabrication, and installation requirements. Allocate parts and materials into production kits to support aircraft completion schedules and production readiness. Create and manage procurement requisitions for parts, materials, and outside services required to support aircraft projects. Review engineering releases and ensure all required materials are properly planned and available to support scheduled work. Coordinate the release of internally fabricated components into production queues to meet aircraft schedule requirements. Monitor material availability, lead times, shortages, and supplier performance to proactively identify and mitigate schedule risks. Develop and maintain planning records, task card requirements, and material status within company systems. Track work package progress and ensure production operations remain aligned with project schedules and milestones. Coordinate closely with Purchasing, Inventory Control, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Program Management to resolve material and planning issues. Assist in the resolution of discrepancy reports, vendor service requests, material shortages, and non-conforming material issues. Initiate replacement orders and corrective actions for lost, damaged, delayed, or discrepant materials. Support scheduling, expediting, and movement of critical materials including transfers, conditional releases, and priority shipments. Monitor bill of materials (BOM) accuracy and ensure planning data remains current and aligned with engineering revisions. Participate in production meetings and communicate material status, shortages, and schedule risks to stakeholders. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on planning efficiency, schedule performance, inventory optimization, and production flow. Provide guidance and mentorship to Associate Planners in the areas of drawing interpretation, material planning, task card management, and kit development. Assist with schedule analysis and support critical path activities to protect aircraft delivery commitments. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Aviation Management, Business, Operations Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in production planning, material planning, inventory management, supply chain operations, manufacturing, or aviation planning environments. Experience supporting aerospace, aviation, manufacturing, or highly regulated production environments preferred. Experience working with ERP, MRP, inventory management, or production planning systems preferred. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation, and bills of material. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Required Skills and Abilities Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of bill of materials (BOM) management, material planning, and kit creation processes. Understanding of supply chain management, procurement, production scheduling, and inventory control principles. Ability to independently manage planning responsibilities for assigned aircraft or production work scopes. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and mitigate schedule risks. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple departments. Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment. Experience working within ERP, MRP, or production planning software systems. Working knowledge of scheduling methodologies, critical path concepts, and production flow management.
