Registered Nurse (RN) - NICU, FT/Nights (12Hr)

Title: Registered Nurse Location: Laguna Hills, CA Department: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Status: Full-time/Night Shift Pay Range: $51.99/hr - $81.50/hr (Pay Range*) Bonus: $20,000 (Signing bonus available to external hires new to MHS employment, contingent upon satisfaction of employment requirements.) *Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, additional compensation may be available such as shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Position Summary This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. Utilizing the nursing process and clinical nursing practice standards, the RN is responsible for directing, delivering, and coordinating nursing care for Women’s and Children’s Service patients in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Nursing Department. Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job Utilizes the nursing process and practice standards as a framework for the management of patient care. Analyzes assessment data to determine a nursing diagnosis and appropriate interventions. Demonstrates the ability to utilize effective critical‑thinking skills. Demonstrates leadership in the coordination of patient care across the healthcare continuum toward meeting desired patient outcomes. Delegates to licensed and unlicensed personnel. Demonstrates knowledge of the clinical information system and applies principles to patient documentation. Formulates a teaching plan based on identified patient learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, including family when necessary. Serves as a role model and mentors new staff members. Creates a positive working environment/culture by demonstrating positive communication skills. Integrates knowledge of job‑specific competencies. Identifies, develops, and implements an action plan for self‑development and professional growth, including peer review. Identifies subtle and obvious patient problems and reports to an appropriate resource person considering multidisciplinary team members and/or chain of command. Addresses age‑specific needs of all populations served: adolescent, adult, and neonatal. Demonstrates commitment to creating an optimal patient/family experience. Contributes to an effective and safe working environment. Demonstrates sensitivity and discretion to maintain good relations with others. Interacts in a positive and constructive manner. Minimum Requirements Qualifications / Work Experience: Two years of acute‑care experience in a neonatal intensive care unit preferred. In lieu of this experience, consideration will be made for an employee with strong education and associated experience. Education / Licensure / Certification: Current California RN license required. Specialty certification preferred. BSN preferred. Current Neonatal Resuscitation Provider required.
