UHD Scholars Academy members are eligible to apply for Tutoring Wages for Natural Sciences Summer 2026. The Scholars Academy manages tutoring services for Science, Math, and CS courses within the Department of Natural Sciences and all other CST departments, which are freely offered to all UHD students.


Benefits:

• Students selected for tutoring must be capable of working in the US; Must apply through UHD careers website job posting for student employment;
• Semester pay will be $15 per hour for up to 6 hrs per week for the 14 week Summer I- III periods (August 1 ends)
• Meet on a monthly basis (or as announced) with your assigned supervisor to give updates or for further guidance
• Experience working closely with your Scholars Academy faculty mentors and/or course instructors, other
• Reinforcement of subject material within your field of study as you tutor peers
• Student tutors must use the Zoom video conferencing system for at least 3 hours of virtual tutoring; 3 hrs must be f2f on campus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

• Commit to a max. of 6 hours of tutoring each week; of the six hours, 3 hrs will be executed in synchronous mode via Zoom and 3 hours will be f2f on campus (STB Rm 243). Let the SA Director know your final schedule; must follow all protocols and procedures for NS tutors; No changes are to be made after finalization.

Requirements:

• Must be a current UHD student
• Have a minimum 3.0 GPA (preference is given for SA members, yet non-SA members may still apply)

Only 4 positions will be filled- I-Math (Calculus level); 2-Biologyll or Genetics; 3-Chemistry- Organic I; 4-Physics; First come, first serve & best fit candidates.


All positions at the University of Houston-System are security sensitive and will require a criminal history check.
