Clinical Laboratory Technician

Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our team at Melrose Wakefield Hospital in Melrose, MA. Work Schedule: One 8‑hour shift per week, 6:00‑2:30am/pm with every third weekend. Potential to pick up additional shifts as available. Responsibilities Determine acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria. Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental SOPs. Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality. Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving. Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls. Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care. Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures. Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as needed. Assist with processing of specimens when needed. Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Minimum Qualifications Associate’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology. Preferred Qualifications 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience. ASCP or AMT certification. Additional Job Standards In lieu of education requirements, non‑traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements. Understanding of laboratory operations, policies and procedures. Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment. Ability to work independently and within a team. Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems. High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position. Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test. Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs. Pay Range $27.75 – $36.50+Shift Differential Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement, Employee Stock Purchase Plan for employees scheduled 20+ hours per week. 401(k) Plan for employees scheduled less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees.
