Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Critical Care Float Pool position requiring compact/OH RN licensure and float flexibility across multiple ICU units at a teaching hospital.

Details

• Critical Care Float Pool position within an academic teaching hospital
• Floats to a variety of ICUs based on staffing and patient acuity, including Neuro ICU, Surgical ICUs, Medical ICUs (MICU x2), Cardiology/Diagnostics, CVICU, SICU, and NCCU
• Float policy requires nurses to float only within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Night shift schedule: 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM \u2013 7:30 AM
• Weekend night coverage required (Friday/Saturday) plus one additional night shift, totaling 36 hours/week
• Utilizes EPIC EMR

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Travel RN experience required
• Required skills: IV starts, telemetry, and ventilator management experience
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role; Charge RN acceptable as second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing across multiple ICU specialties, adapting to varying patient acuity and unit needs
• Skilled in IV therapy, central/PICC/arterial line management, blood product administration, and port access/management
• Experienced in respiratory care including ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and suctioning
• Skilled in titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and administration of emergency medications
• Experienced in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
• Knowledgeable in neurological critical care including CVA/acute stroke management
• Experienced in managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Familiar with infection prevention practices and isolation precautions/PPE
• All candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
• Candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location; those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
• Required time off must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment only after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are not eligible for travel assignments
• First-time travelers may be considered given required travel experience is met
