Field Service Technician - Level 1

Job Overview Sunbelt Rentals is seeking a Road Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, diagnose and repair equipment at customer locations. This role involves working with a fleet of aerial work platforms, general construction tools, and specialty equipment such as power generators, pumps, HVAC systems, and oil/gas equipment. Key Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance and advanced repairs on diesel equipment and specialty line equipment at customer locations. Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and implement effective solutions to avoid downtime. Work safely in a fast‑paced, remote environment, adapting to changing priorities. Provide and maintain personal mechanic tools and equipment. Document repair work and communicate status to customers and internal teams. Qualifications and Experience High school diploma or GED required; trade school or equivalent training a plus. 1–2 years of mechanic experience with diesel, heavy construction, or specialty equipment (generators, pumps, HVAC, oil & gas). Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; CDL license or 21+ age may be required in some locations. Knowledge of hydraulic systems, troubleshooting fundamentals, electrical systems, and troubleshooting fundamentals. Ability to be flexible with changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Bilingual (Spanish or other) may be required based on location needs. Physical Demands Bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, lifting 50 pounds or more, and working indoors/outdoors as required by the job. Compensation Base pay range: $21.38 – $29.39 per hour, subject to variation based on location, education, training, and experience.
