Job Title: QC Scientist I Job Description

The QC Scientist I is responsible for performing routine analyses and documenting residual active pharmaceutical and detergent analysis in support of pharmaceutical manufacturing operations within the QC Analytical Chemistry Laboratory. This role supports internal development and manufacturing operations by making detailed observations, reviewing, documenting, and communicating test results in a manner consistent with established standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine chemical testing of residual swab samples using internally developed test methods.
• Perform validated test methods for pharmaceutical residual analysis using HPLC, Mass Spectrometry, and TOC techniques.
• Recognize and report out-of-specification or unexpected results and non-routine analytical and product problems effectively and efficiently.
• Perform daily instrument calibrations and verifications as needed.
• Communicate results clearly and accurately through documentation of testing, analysis, and acquired results.
• Record and report results of analysis following prescribed lab procedures and systems.
• Prepare test solutions including diluents and mobile phases.
• Clean and maintain work area and instrumentation.
• Perform all duties in strict compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Laboratory Practices, and Safety guidelines.
• Maintain compliance status as required by company and facility standards.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in physical science, preferably in Chemistry.
• 1-2 years of experience performing chemical tests with chromatographic techniques is preferred.
• Working theoretical knowledge and practical execution of HPLC and Mass Spectrometry.
• Experience with quantitative HPLC analyses.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with quantitative HPLC analyses.

Work Environment

The position operates on a 1st shift schedule from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The role requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about office locations. The ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch for prolonged periods is necessary. The position involves manipulation of light to medium weights ranging from 10-35 pounds and requires arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp and type for prolonged periods. Visual acuity is necessary to use a keyboard, computer monitor, operate equipment, and read materials. Required safety equipment includes safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, latex or similar gloves, safety apron, and occasionally an organic respirator (e.g., Surge 100).

This is a Contract position based out of Cincinnati, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
