About the Opportunity & Client

C2 Consulting is currently recruiting an In-House Legal Counsel on behalf of a valued local client. Our client is an established, family-owned, and team-oriented business operating across multi-state locations in the Midwest and Southeast. Built on a strong culture of integrity, stability, and operational excellence, they are bringing on dedicated internal counsel to oversee commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and corporate risk management.

This is a full-time, in-office position based out of the regional operational hub ( Evansville, IN / Western KY area ), with periodic regional travel between office locations across the Midwest and Southeast as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Commercial Contract Management: Structure, draft, review, and negotiate complex client service retainers, vendor agreements, subcontracts, and master service agreements (MSAs).
• Regulatory Compliance & Risk Mitigation: Advise executive leadership on federal, state, and local regulatory compliance, operational safety standards, and regional liability exposure.
• Corporate Governance & Strategy: Serve as a core advisor to leadership on employment law matters, internal company policies, corporate structure, and business expansion strategies.
• Claims & Outside Counsel Oversight: Manage corporate risk management strategies, oversee dispute resolutions, and serve as the primary liaison with insurance carriers and external legal partners.
• Regional Site Collaboration: Travel periodically to regional office locations across the Midwest and Southeast to collaborate with local operational teams and provide on-site legal guidance.

Candidate Requirements (Mandatory)

Applicants who do not meet ALL mandatory criteria below will not be considered.

• Licensure: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree with an active, good-standing State Bar License in Indiana or Kentucky (or active in-house legal registration).
• Work Location & Mobility: Ability to work in-office out of the regional hub ( Evansville, IN / Owensboro, KY / Bowling Green, KY area ) with flexibility for regional travel between office sites as needed.
• Legal Experience: Minimum of 3–5+ years of active legal practice , combining corporate law firm experience and/or in-house corporate legal department background.
• Commercial Drafting: Proven, independent track record in drafting, reviewing, and executing commercial contracts.
• Professional Standing: Clean record with no history of state bar sanctions or active grievances.

• Exposure to multi-state operations across the Midwest and Southeast jurisdictions.
• Direct legal experience supporting family-owned, mid-market, or closely held growing enterprises.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to balance strict legal protection with practical, team-oriented business goals.
• Approachable, collaborative communication style that aligns with a close-knit, family-owned company culture.
