We are seeking a hands-on Electrical Engineer to validate, troubleshoot, and incrementally improve digital circuit boards used in robotic systems. You will focus on executing established design verification testing (DVT), isolating board-level issues in the lab, and supporting a limited number of PCB revisions. This role is ideal for a proactive engineer who learns quickly, enjoys practical board-level work, and thrives in a collaborative, supported team environment. You will work closely with experienced electrical engineers and cross-functional partners while maintaining clear documentation and contributing to continuous improvement of robotic hardware.

Responsibilities

• Execute established design verification test (DVT) plans on digital circuit boards, including setting up tests, collecting data, documenting results, and identifying performance deviations.

• Troubleshoot board-level hardware in the lab using oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, bench power supplies, and other standard electrical test equipment.

• Reproduce failures, inspect signals and power rails, document observations, and collaborate with senior engineers to determine root cause and corrective actions.

• Support PCB re-spins by implementing or reviewing modest schematic changes to address identified issues or improvements.

• Update and review schematics and coordinate PCB layout changes using Cadence Allegro and related tools.

• Support the test and debug of interfaces such as USB, JTAG, MIPI, I2C, and SPI, ensuring reliable operation and integration into robotic systems.

• Maintain clear and organized engineering documentation, including test reports, lab notes, schematic revisions, issue records, and change documentation.

• Participate in Agile planning and tracking activities, complete routine engineering tasks, and communicate progress, risks, and blockers in a timely manner.

• Coordinate with electrical, firmware, software, manufacturing, and external test partners to keep validation and board-update work on schedule.

• Follow established test procedures, apply methodical troubleshooting techniques, and own assigned tasks through completion while taking direction as needed.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

• Approximately 23 years of hands-on electrical engineering experience with board-level electronics; strong recent graduates with relevant co-op or internship experience may also be considered.

• Practical experience working in an electronics lab and using oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, bench power supplies, and similar standard test equipment.

• Ability to read and interpret digital and power schematics and apply this knowledge to testing and troubleshooting activities.

• Capability to follow established test procedures and methodically troubleshoot board-level issues, including making small schematic updates under guidance.

• Ability to capture accurate test data and produce organized, traceable engineering documentation such as test reports and lab notes.

• Strong initiative, learning agility, and attention to detail, with a willingness to take direction while owning assigned tasks through completion.

• Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative engineering team.

• Ability and willingness to work fully onsite every workday for the duration of the assignment.

• Core electrical engineering skills including electrical design, schematic understanding, PCB design, PCB layout, and PCB testing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with schematic-capture tools for creating and updating electronic designs.

• Exposure to Cadence Allegro and experience reviewing or coordinating PCB layout work.

• Familiarity with one or more of the following interfaces: USB, JTAG, MIPI, I2C, or SPI.

• Experience with camera, imaging, or robotic systems and their associated hardware requirements.

• Experience interacting with PCB manufacturers, component suppliers, or contract manufacturing partners.

• Basic exposure to regulatory testing preparation or support for external compliance laboratories.

• Interest in working within an Agile engineering environment and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including firmware, software, manufacturing, and external test partners.

Work Environment

This role is fully onsite and requires lab-based work every workday, with no remote or hybrid options. You will work at a modern engineering facility in North Reading, spending most of your time in an electronics lab environment using oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, bench power supplies, and other standard test equipment. You will collaborate closely with electrical, firmware, software, manufacturing, and external test partners in a supportive, cross-functional team culture that follows Agile planning and tracking practices. The position is offered as a fixed-term contract (FTC) with a benefits package that includes paid time off, such as 15 days of PTO and 7 paid holidays. The environment emphasizes clear documentation, structured testing processes, and practical, hands-on work with digital circuit boards for robotic systems.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $58.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
