Director, Accounting - P&C Reinsurance

A publicly traded insurance organization has launched a new Property & Casualty Insurance and Reinsurance platform and is seeking a Director of Accounting to help build the accounting, reporting, and control infrastructure supporting this strategic growth initiative.

Working closely with Finance, Actuarial, and Executive Leadership, you'll play a key role in shaping accounting processes, financial reporting, reserve governance, and internal controls as the platform continues to scale.

Key Responsibilities

● Lead technical accounting research for complex P&C insurance and reinsurance transactions

● Review actuarial reserve analyses and evaluate key assumptions

● Oversee monthly and quarterly close activities

● Support GAAP, STAT, and SEC reporting requirements

● Maintain a strong SOX-compliant control environment

● Partner with auditors and support regulatory reporting activities

● Drive process improvements and accounting automation initiatives

● Mentor and develop accounting staff

Qualifications

● CPA required

● Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

● 7+ years of progressive accounting experience

● Significant P&C insurance or reinsurance accounting experience required

● Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, STAT, and SEC reporting

● Experience with loss reserves, reinsurance accounting, and underwriting results analysis

● Prior public accounting experience serving insurance clients is highly desirable
