Material Handler

Job Summary:
The Material Handler is responsible for operating a variety of material handling equipment for the purpose of moving, locating, relocating, stacking and counting merchandise. The equipment utilized in these functions may include forklifts, pallet jacks, slip sheets, and clamps. The material handler is responsible for the safe and efficient use of these vehicles. The Material Handler is also responsible for order selection and checking as the need dictates.
Duties/Responsibilities:

• Unloads inbound shipments safe ly and mov es product to the storage locations
• Efficiently stacks and sto re s the product in the appropriate area(s)
• Prior to product storage, counts all product , comparing counts to the drivers manifest and checks all shipments for damage , infestation and production code dates , and reports shortages, damages and misplacements to your immediate supervisor who will forward the infor mation to the appropriate parties
• Pulls and prepares product for shipment
• Efficiently moves product from the staging or storage areas into rail cars or trailers.
• Loads, unloads , moves , stacks and stages p rod uct and materials using a forklift , pallet jack, clamps , s lip sheet or other power equipment
• Inspects and verify equipment is operating prior to the start of the day 's activity
• Keeps appropriate records and reports to guarantee that tight inventory control and security are maintained
• Assists in physical inventories, ensuring the proper stock rotation
• Maintains a clean , neat and orderly work area
• Assists in maintaining the security of the warehouse, and conducts operations in a manner, which promotes safety.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to understand and follow English instructions preferred.
• Capable of following verbal and written instructions
• Capable of operating facility material handling equipment (OSHA certified on forklifts, reach trucks, hand trucks) and their attachments
• Basic understanding and utilization of RF scanning equipment
• Have good arithmetic skills
• Be available for various shifts
• Have no fear of heights
• Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health & safety procedures.
• Follow company policies, procedures and guidelines, employ safe work practices.
• Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 90 Day Temporary Labor

License or Certificate Requirements:

• Forklift driver certification
• Forklift attachment(s) certification

Heavy lifting – lifting of 50 pounds or more

Heavy – able to stand for long periods of time (over 6 hours)
Work Environment
Medium – must be able to endure working in freezer environment for up to 6 hours
Vision and Hearing
Heavy – must be able to endure loud warehouse noises and have accurate vision to work in a freezer environment
