Unity Bus Driver- Sub
This position exists to provide transportation for students between home and school for the purposes of instruction, athletics, and other trips as approved by the Principal.
Essential job functions include maintaining the proper licensing requirements as defined by the NH DMV, transporting children to and from school in the mornings, afternoons, and field trips as assigned, verifying permissions for children who ride home with friends as permitted by the school, maintaining a clean and mechanically-sound bus at all times, keeping the bus fueled in accordance with school expectations, obeying all traffic laws, performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus before and after each route and maintaining log, ensuring safety of all students, providing disciplinary support and guidance for children as appropriate to maintain a safe and healthy environment, assisting students with getting on and off the bus when required, attending safety and training meetings as required, understanding board policies related to transportation and confidentiality, and communicating any problems with appropriate school personnel in a timely manner.
Education, certification, and licensure include maintaining the proper licensing requirements as defined by the NH DMV and school bus endorsement required for this position.
Other knowledge and skills include demonstrating exceptional reliability, communicating professionally, fairly, and appropriately at all levels, being able to handle complex or unexpected issues with tact and professionalism while maintaining safety and security of vessel and passengers, and being able to work independently under the support of school administration.
Physical demands of the job are as follows: notable activity requirements frequency (constant, frequent, occasional, unlikely) sitting frequent, standing occasional, lifting/pushing/pulling less than 25lbs frequent, lifting/pushing/pulling 25lbs - 50lbs occasional, lifting/pushing/pulling more than 50lbs occasional, stooping occasional, bending occasional, reaching occasional.
It is also anticipated that stress will be associated with this position primarily due to the demands of this position. It is necessary that the individual have the capacity to remain calm, considerate, and tactful under stressful and unanticipated situations. Individual must exercise a high level of confidentiality in handling staff and student.
