A Swim Instructor at British Swim School teaches swim lessons to children and adults, starting at 3 months old, using our fun, gentle, and progressive methods. You will receive extensive training to build your confidence and ability to work with swimmers of varying abilities.  Having fun and interacting with our swimmers is an important part of the role! A strong focus is placed on providing survival swim techniques, living out the British Swim School mission, and making a big impact on decreasing drowning.

Your Typical Responsibilities:

 

• Support the Aquatics Leader and/or Business Owner(s)
• Follow the British Swim Schools curriculum to ensure safe, consistent lessons.
• Work evenings (3 pm-8 pm), Saturdays (10:00 am- 2:30 pm), Sundays (12:30 pm-5 pm), and some holidays as required by business needs.
• Maintain certifications throughout employment. 
• Work in an environment where noise levels are usually moderate to high and stand in the water for up to 4 consecutive hours.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

• High school diploma, equivalent, or in the process of completion.
• Enthusiastic, friendly personality.
• Comfortable in and around the water. Strong swimming skills are a plus, but can be taught and developed! 
• Must be at least 17-years old
• Must complete all required British Swim School Aquatics-specific training and testing.
• Must maintain certifications throughout the length of employment. 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Experience working with all ages.
• Swimming experience: 1-2 years preferred but not required.
• Customer service skills: 1 year preferred.
• Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED Certification(s) preferred (but can be obtained during training)
