Position Overview

The Senior Tax Accountant (CPA) will support complex tax compliance and consulting engagements for a diverse client base. This role is ideal for an experienced public accounting professional with recent experience at a Big 4, Top 10, or Top 25 accounting firm who can integrate quickly into a high-performing team, deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines, and operate effectively in a hybrid onsite/remote environment.\n

Responsibilities Of The Senior Tax Accountant (CPA)

• Prepare and review complex federal, state, and local tax returns for corporations, partnerships, and individuals.
\n
• Conduct detailed tax research and interpret tax law to support positions on returns and advisory projects.
\n
• Assist with tax planning strategies to minimize client tax liabilities while ensuring compliance.
\n
• Analyze financial statements and supporting documentation to identify tax issues and opportunities.
\n
• Support provision work, including preparation and review of tax accruals and related workpapers.
\n
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Audit, Advisory, and other Tax specialists) to ensure accurate and timely deliverables.
\n
• Maintain thorough and organized workpapers and documentation in accordance with firm standards.
\n
• Communicate clearly and professionally with internal stakeholders and, as needed, with client contacts.
\n
• Stay current with changes in tax law and regulations, applying them appropriately to engagements.
\n
• Contribute to process improvements, knowledge sharing, and best practices within the Tax team.

Required Experience/Skills For The Senior Tax Accountant (CPA)

\n

\n
• Active CPA license (must be active in the state of residence for Manager-level candidates).
\n
• Active PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number) or willingness to apply upon offer acceptance.
\n
• Demonstrated experience in tax compliance and/or tax consulting for complex entities.
\n
• Ability to work onsite in Chicago, IL on the first day for onboarding, then transition to remote work.
\n
• Availability to commit full-time to the contract assignment, including peak-period hours.

Preferred Experience/Skills For The Senior Tax Accountant (CPA)

\n

\n
• Prior experience with the same or similar large public accounting firms is a plus and should be disclosed before submission.
\n
• Experience managing multiple concurrent engagements and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
\n
• Strong proficiency with tax preparation and research software, Excel, and related tools.
\n
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly.
