Registered Nurse-SICU

Location and Shift City/State: Nyack, New York Department: Surgical ICU Shift: Night (7 PM-7 AM) Hours: 11.5 Hours per day, 37.5 Hours per pay period. Job Summary The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for managing, delegating, coordinating and providing nursing care through utilization of the nursing process. This includes effective communication with patients, families and the multidisciplinary health care team. The role covers assessment, treatment, and care of patients of all ages within the scope of practice. Essential Functions Provide nursing care to patients within the nursing process and established standards of practice. Integrate principles of patient safety in direct care and medication management. Adhere to system-wide communication standards and processes. Participate in forums addressing patient care, education, policy, procedures, safety, and clinical outcomes. Maintain and improve professional knowledge and skills related to the area of practice. Employee Performance Standards Customer Service Create positive interactions with customers. Communicate positively with people of different cultures, values and beliefs. Acknowledge customer concerns and take corrective action. Demonstrate compliance with identified customer service behaviors. Provide escort to customers when necessary. Performance Improvement Participate in departmental or hospital-wide activities that improve processes and outcomes. Utilize resources to maintain and enhance self‑development and knowledge. Comply with licensure and/or certification requirements. Participate in annual competency assessment. Budget Use equipment and supplies in a fiscally prudent manner. Apply charge process for supplies and equipment. Projects and Assignments Complete projects and assignments within projected time frames. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; Associate’s degree preferred. One year Med/Surg experience preferred. National certification in area of practice preferred. Certifications Required BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – American Heart Association (required for ED, SICU, MICU, 3 Doctors, Cath Lab, Endo, Labor & Delivery, Nursing Radiology, and SDS within 6 months of hire/transfer; PACU within 3 months) PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – American Heart Association (required for ED, Nursing Radiology, and SDS; PACU within 3 months) NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – American Heart Association (required for Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, and NICU within 6 months) Oncology Nurse Specialist: Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider – Oncology Nursing Society (required for Infusion Center) On-Call Areas Operating Room, Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit, and Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.
