Safety Engineer

Overview Conti Civil is looking for a motivated and safety‑minded individual to join our team. This role is designed for someone passionate about building a career in safety within the civil construction industry. You will play a key role in promoting and ensuring the health and safety of our employees on project sites, gaining hands‑on experience while being supported by a dedicated safety department of experienced professionals. Key Responsibilities Assist in developing and updating the Site Safety and Health Plan (SSHP) under the guidance of senior safety staff. Learn and help enforce compliance with safety and health requirements, including federal, state and local laws, OSHA regulations, and Conti Civil’s safety standards. Support the implementation of safety procedures and policies, encouraging a culture of safety among all team members, subcontractors and vendors. Participate in safety orientations and training sessions, helping to organize and deliver content as your experience grows. Assist with daily safety inspections and contribute to maintaining PPE inventory and safety equipment. Support senior staff in accident/injury investigations and in the preparation of reports and recommendations for corrective action. Engage in safety meetings and planning sessions, offering input and learning best practices in safety management. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, engineering or a related field preferred. 1+ year of experience in construction. Strong interest in the construction industry, particularly in civil projects, with a keen desire to grow in the safety field. Basic knowledge of safety and health standards and eagerness to learn more about regulations (OSHA, DOT, EPA, etc.). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team environment. Organizational skills and a proactive attitude toward learning and professional development. Familiarity with the MS Office suite and openness to learning new software and systems.
