Job Description

This role supports a large data center project in Phoenix, AZ by installing chilled water and condenser water piping systems in an industrial environment. You will work with copper, steel, and Victaulic piping to build and maintain critical mechanical systems, using your layout, blueprint reading, and installation experience to ensure safe, high-quality work.

Responsibilities

• Install copper and steel chilled water piping systems according to mechanical drawings and project specifications.
• Install copper and steel condenser water piping systems, ensuring proper alignment, support, and connections.
• Work with Victaulic and grooved pipe systems, including layout, assembly, and secure installation.
• Interpret and work from blueprints, layout drawings, and mechanical drawings to plan and execute pipe routing and installation.
• Apply soldering and brazing techniques to copper pipe and related components, including work on 3" diameter or less piping.
• Use screw pipe and weld fittings, accurately applying fitting takeouts for both screw and welded joints.
• Perform layout of piping runs, supports, and penetrations to meet design requirements and site conditions.
• Collaborate with commercial plumbers and fire sprinkler fitters to coordinate installation activities and maintain project schedules.
• Operate lifts and work at heights up to approximately 15 feet in the air while installing and securing piping.
• Follow all safety procedures and site rules, including proper use of tools, equipment, and personal protective gear.
• Carry out daily physical tasks such as climbing up and down ladders, pushing, pulling, and frequently carrying tools, materials, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and crawl for extended periods to access work areas and complete installations.
• Work outdoors and indoors in an industrial data center environment, including exposure to heat and various weather conditions.
• Maintain regular attendance and be available for overtime and weekend work as required by project demands.
• Ensure quality workmanship, accurate measurements, and secure connections to support reliable operation of mechanical systems.

Essential Skills

• At least 3 years of pipefitting experience in industrial or commercial environments.
• Hands-on experience installing copper and steel chilled water piping systems.
• Hands-on experience installing copper and steel condenser water piping systems.
• Experience working with Victaulic and grooved piping systems.
• Strong knowledge of fitting takeouts for screw and weld fittings.
• Proficiency working with screw pipe and related fittings.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, layout drawings, and mechanical drawings.
• Experience with soldering and brazing, including work on copper pipe of 3" diameter or less.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds or more on a regular basis.
• Ability to operate lifts and work safely at heights up to approximately 15 feet.
• Comfort working in an industrial environment and data center setting.
• Availability for overtime and weekend work, with consistent and reliable attendance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience as a journeyman pipefitter or equivalent experience in industrial pipefitting.
• Experience with layout of piping systems in commercial or industrial facilities.
• Fire sprinkler fitting experience, with ability to adapt skills to chilled and condenser water piping systems.
• Commercial plumbing experience, including installation and coordination of mechanical piping.
• Ability to work effectively alongside other trades in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety on the job site.

Work Environment

This position is based in a large data center and industrial environment in Phoenix, AZ, involving work on high-demand mechanical systems. You will work primarily on first shift, with regular 10-hour days and weekend work as needed. The role requires constant walking and standing, frequent climbing of ladders, and working on lifts up to approximately 15 feet in the air. You will push, pull, and carry tools, materials, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, and you will often work in heat and varying weather conditions when outdoors. The setting is a busy construction and industrial site, where adherence to safety procedures and appropriate work attire, including required personal protective equipment, is essential.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
