Clearance

• Security clearance: NO
• Facility clearance (FCL): NO
• Base access: YES. Background check and a Fort Jackson base pass are required before the first day. This takes about 3 weeks.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS MANDATORY

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years of office or admin work.
• Able to learn new database systems quickly.
• Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Provided after hire: Army security awareness, anti-terrorism Level I, iWATCH, OPSEC and TARP.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS NICE TO HAVE

• Associate or bachelor degree in HR, business or a related subject.
• Army HR background (42A) or similar military HR training.
• Current Fort Jackson base pass.
• Army security awareness, anti-terrorism Level I, iWATCH, OPSEC and TARP training completed in the last 12 months.

WORK EXPERIENCE MANDATORY

• 2 or more years of military pay work: starting, changing and stopping pay and allowances, and handling deductions.
• Travel bookings and expense claims in DTS.
• At least 2 of these systems: DJMS, DMO, MMPA, CEDEMS, SmartVoucher, Citibank travel card.
• Answering customer questions to a set response time, by email, chat and phone.
• Checking that a pay change has taken effect after it is submitted.
• Dealing with upset customers.

WORK EXPERIENCE NICE TO HAVE

• Former Army 36B Financial Management Technician or 42A HR Specialist.
• Booking Army school seats and matching them to travel and orders.
• Help desk work with a ticket system.
• Supporting people who are based away from the office.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Process and code soldier pay: start, change and stop pay and allowances, handle special duty pay and deductions, once the Army has approved them.
• After every pay change, open the pay account and check it has taken effect.
• Use the military pay systems daily and clear open items against the log each day.
• Run one queue for all questions arriving by email, Teams chat and phone. Log each one with the time it arrived and put a name against it.
• Check the queue twice a day. Pass anything unanswered after 8 working hours to the Contract Manager.
• Book travel in DTS. Check the school booking, build the travel booking, and check the order, booking and travel all match before sending for approval.
• Prepare expense claims for Army approval and fix any that come back within 1 working day.
• Cover the personnel and records job when that person is away.
• Protect soldiers' personal information. No personal phone, laptop or USB stick on an Army computer.
