Job Description
Dialysis Nurse

Schedule

Guaranteed 40 hours/week with a schedule of Monday through Friday from 5:30 AM to 6:00 PM, including a combination of 2-12 hour shifts and 2-8 hour shifts, or 4-10 hour shifts. Rotating Saturdays from 5:30 AM to 6:00 PM with 8- or 12-hour shifts based on department needs. Call may be required Monday through Friday from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM and possibly on weekends.

Assignment Details

Float to all dialysis locations as needed.

Requirements

• New York State nursing license in hand.
• Minimum of 1 year of dialysis experience is required; acute and outpatient experience preferred.
• Experience with EPIC charting system is required.
• Current BLS certification is required.
• Clinical skills required include hemodialysis, AV access cannulation, care of tunneled/non-tunneled catheters, and management of common dialysis complications.

Responsibilities

• Provide acute inpatient and chronic outpatient dialysis care.
• Monitor patients during treatments and respond to emergencies as needed.
• Ensure compliance with infection control procedures and post-treatment access care.
• Perform management of common dialysis complications, including hypotension and fluid overload.
• Engage in effective communication with patients and their families regarding treatment plans.

Compliance / Notes

Candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted or may receive a lower rate. RTO cannot exceed 10 days. Return staff policy requires a 6-month wait period before reapplication. Background checks will be reviewed case-by-case.
