Medical Surgical Acute Care 5 is 37-bed acuity adaptable medical and progressive level of care unit. All beds are private rooms. Nurses are trained to care for medical / surgical patients. AC5 nurses primarily care for orthopedic, neuro, urology, trauma, and fracture surgeries along with general medical patients comprised of COPD, pneumonia, cellulitis, altered mental status, and other conditions.

Qualifications:

• Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Education: The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
• Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
• Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
• Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
