Operations Manager

High Adventure Treks (HATS) is a Dallas–Fort Worth nonprofit that runs outdoor adventure and leadership programs for fathers and their daughters and sons in grades 4 through 9, along with specialty leadership academies for teens. Our mission is to grow relationships, communication, and leadership through shared outdoor adventures — delivered within a culture of inclusivity and friendship. About the Role The Operations Manager leads the planning and execution of every HATS adventure, making sure each one is safe, true to our mission, and delivered at a high standard of quality. This is a hands-on operational leadership role spanning program logistics, vendor and venue relationships, leadership program delivery, and direct support to our CEO and Board. What You'll Do Own safety across all adventures — protocols, staffing, and continuous improvement of safety practices. Plan and execute weekend adventures end-to-end: venue and vendor logistics, director and participant packets, equipment readiness, and pre- and post-adventure communications. Build and manage a year-round master task list covering all grade-level adventures and leadership programs, keeping every event on schedule. Deliver and continuously improve our leadership programs — the Wilderness Leadership Academy, Wilderness First Aid Academy, and Camp Director Academy — including curriculum and instructor management. Manage relationships with ranch and venue owners and outdoor activity vendors (kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, and more), securing reservations and troubleshooting issues as they come up. Support volunteer adventure directors directly in the days and weeks before each event, and monitor weather and safety conditions in real time during adventures. Handle operations administration: budgeting, feedback, director assignments and scheduling, and policy updates. Partner with the CEO/Executive Director and Board of Directors on operations reporting and special projects. What We're Looking For Experience in operations, program management, or outdoor/camp administration — nonprofit or youth-serving organization experience is a plus. Exceptional organizational and project-management skills; comfortable owning multiple concurrent events and long-lead-time planning. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead, coach, and build relationships with volunteer directors, vendors, and families. Genuine passion for outdoor adventure and for building relationships and leadership skills in young people. Willingness and ability to work weekends regularly and travel within the DFW region for campouts and venue visits. Comfortable managing budgets, vendor relationships, and administrative reporting.
