Job Summary The "Buyer Direct" will be based in Fontana, California , reporting to the Purchasing Manager . This role will be coordinating activities involved with procuring direct materials, components, and equipment. Responsibilities Maintaining relations with suppliers. Placing orders for necessary raw materials and purchased parts according to production requirements. Receiving and handling confirmations. Checking purchase orders and modifying them according to changes in the production plan with the help of the Shortage List and the Open Purchase Order List. Tracking shipments and urging them if needed. Regularly checking stocks weekly to avoid overstock. Minimizing the risk of obsolescence with weekly checks of the obsolete report. Corresponding with freight forwarders, warehouses, and organizing transportation when required. Dealing with claims, settling debit and credit issues. Filing and recording all necessary documents. Checking the inventory of critical materials (personally if needed) according to the Shortage List. Contacting warehouse personnel to resolve inventory discrepancies. Handling purchasing data privacy. Ensuring all active components are available for production needs, on time, and at the agreed price. Reviewing requisitions and MRP output. Consulting vendors to obtain product information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. Ordering, rescheduling, and canceling material based on requisitions and MRP output. Maintaining procurement records such as items purchased, costs, delivery, and inventories. Managing supplier expectations for price, delivery, and quality, and escalating when appropriate. Approving invoices for payment. Investigating inventory levels. Monitoring the movement of materials through the production cycle. Conducting quarterly supplier reviews. Maintaining procurement records, reports, and metrics. Qualifications Typically requires a minimum of 1 to 2 years of procurement experience. Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP software. English language knowledge, data entry, ten-key skills, and spreadsheet competency. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings. Ability to calculate figures and amounts (discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, area, circumference, volume) and apply basic algebra and geometry. Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form and to solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
