Nuclear Medicine TechnologistProfession: Tech Specialty: Nuclear Medicine Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days (M-F) Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum Years of Experience: N/A License: South Carolina Clienttion Quality Standard Association (SCRQSA) Radiographer Certification Certifications: Nuclear Medicine Certification from AART or NMTCB, BLS through the American Heart Association Must-Have: - Strong interpersonal and communication skills. - Demonstrated ability to perform and teach Nuclear Medicine exams to produce satisfactory diagnostic images for interpretation. - Knowledge of OSHA, DHEC, FDA, and TJC standards and regulations. - Responsible for safe operation of Nuclear Medicine and post-processing equipment. - Ability to operate standard office equipment. Description: Following established protocol and under the medical supervision of certified radiologists, nuclear medicine technologists will perform procedures for the direct results of interpretation. Technologists will assist the radiologists on procedures as needed and be responsible for supervision of student Radiologic Technologists assigned to them. Encourages and maintains good customer relations. Responsible for the care and safety of patients during imaging procedures utilizing age-appropriate care. Following established protocols and under the direction of Radiologists, clinical staff will perform procedures for direct results of interpretations. Obtains correct written orders for procedures. Efficiently uses time to accomplish patient care assignments while meeting work quality, quantity, and timeliness expectations. Assists in the clinical education of student technologists. Utilizes imaging equipment efficiently with attention to minimizing repeat examinations. Uses supplies with an emphasis on cost containment. Instructs and prepares patients regarding imaging procedures and assists in obtaining informed consent as needed. Ensures patient understanding of procedures. Communicates with family members regarding discharge instructions. Responds actively and with sensitivity to the needs of internal and external customers. Ensures correct orders, diagnosis, and clinical history are entered into the computer system. Communicates with Radiologists regarding procedures and is effective in both verbal and written communication. Presents a positive and professional demeanor. Adheres to hospital, departmental, and safety policies and procedures. Practices good radiation protection and follows established guidelines. Practices radiation safety in accordance with ALARA principles. Completes annual mandatory in-services and maintains current licensure requirements. Submits copies of professional licenses as requested. Supports and promotes departmental efforts in meeting established projects and goals. Holds medical and sensitive information in confidence. Promotes the mission and values of the organization. Assists other members of the Imaging Team and/or other disciplines including clerical staff to maintain records, reports, and files. Consistently assists others and functions as a team player. Demonstrates flexibility and accountability in job duties and is a self-starter. Takes the initiative towards improving departmental operations and consistently completes performance evaluations. Performs other job duties and responsibilities as required.
