About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU/Observation Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Must have valid state license Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, and NIHSS Must-Have: Charge experience required Must be familiar with intermediate medication drips (e.g., heparin, nitroglycerin, cardizem, insulin) Weekend requirement: Yes, every other weekend Description: This position involves working in a mixed unit providing patient care. Ratios are 1:4 across all shifts. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics. Typical diagnoses include chest pain, abdominal pain, atrial fibrillation, TIA, anemia/GI bleed, dehydration/AKI, syncope, vertigo, COPD, asthma, UTI/pyelonephritis, headache/migraine, CHF, seizure, carbon monoxide poisoning, pancreatitis, cellulitis, and complications from outpatient surgery. The unit operates in a fast-paced environment, with a length of stay goal of 18 to 24 hours. There is a requirement to float within the service line and between facilities as needed. Experience in observation medicine is preferred. Candidates should possess strong skills related to telemetry and the management of cardiac drips (no titration). Successful applicants will be part of an interdisciplinary support system, including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services.
