General Duties Process weekly payroll accurately and on time for all employees. Maintain employee payroll records, including pay rates, deductions, tax withholdings, and direct deposit information. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations. Process new hires, terminations, wage changes, and employee status updates. Prepare and submit payroll tax reports and other required filings. Reconcile payroll reports, benefit deductions, garnishments, and payroll‑related accounts. Ensure accurate employee records and benefit administration. Respond to employee questions regarding pay, taxes, benefits, and payroll deductions. Maintain confidentiality of employee and company payroll information. Assist with certified payroll reporting for prevailing wage projects as required. Prepare payroll reports for management and assist with year‑end reporting, including W‑2 processing. Support audits by providing payroll documentation and reports. Assist with accounts payable and other accounting functions as needed. Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes while maintaining compliance and accuracy. Coordinate and administer the company safety program. Maintain OSHA logs and other required safety records and reports. Coordinate drug and alcohol testing programs, including pre‑employment, random, post‑accident, and reasonable suspicion testing. Coordinate the full‑cycle hiring process for both McKeever's and J & J Schlaegel, including posting job openings, reviewing applications, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates. Conduct pre‑employment screenings, background checks, drug testing, and reference verification. Prepare offer letters, employment agreements, and new hire paperwork. Assist with other office duties as needed. Requirements Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years of payroll processing experience preferred. Working knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and wage and hour requirements. Experience with QuickBooks Payroll and Microsoft Excel. Certified Payroll experience is a plus. Skills Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information. Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
