Job Details - Hematology/Oncology Locum Tenens

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $9,330 - $10,367 (locum tenens physician pay)
• Location: Paducah, KY 42003 (Paducah, Kentucky)
• Setting: 95% clinic, 5% hospital (outpatient oncology focus)
• Patient Population: 100% adults (medical oncology & hematology)
• Specialty Mix: Hematology/Oncology - 70% Oncology, 30% Hematology
• Average Patient Census: 22/day (including 2-3 new consults daily)
• Shifts: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour days (7a-7p); EMTALA call coverage as scheduled; Monday-Friday clinic with weekend call coverage
• Duration: 13 weeks (locum tenens assignment) with potential extension or permanent placement
• Start Date: May 18, 2026
• EMR: EPIC

Qualifications & Job Requirements

• Board Certification in Hematology or Medical Oncology (required)
• Completion of Hematology/Oncology Fellowship (required)
• Active Kentucky medical license preferred; willingness to obtain KY state license (highly preferred)
• COVID-19 vaccination (required)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Experience in both outpatient and inpatient hematology/oncology practice (required)
• Proficiency with intrathecal chemotherapy administration (required)
• Experience with intracavitary chemotherapy (highly preferred)
• Self-query NPDB report within 30 days of application (required)
• Minimum 1 year of hematology/oncology practice experience

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive hematology and medical oncology care to adult patients in clinic and inpatient settings
• Manage an average daily census of ~22 patients, including 2-3 new consults daily
• Administer and oversee intrathecal and intracavitary chemotherapy treatments safely and according to protocols
• Participate in EMTALA call coverage and scheduled weekend call
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team-nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and advanced practice providers-to deliver patient-centered cancer care
• Document patient visits, treatment plans, and chemotherapy administration accurately in EPIC EMR
