Machine Technician 3rd Shift

Machine Technician – 3rd Shift Shift Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 11:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.; Friday–Saturday, 11:00 p.m. – 8:30 a.m. Position Summary The Machine Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting assigned machines. The technician inspects parts to specifications, performs necessary adjustments or tool changes, resolves minor component and quality issues, maintains production rates per BOM, verifies quality standards for each part, and ensures process integrity per setup sheets and control plans. Core Functions Support and train operators on various machines. Operate machines to ensure continuous production at a constant rate with high quality and minimal waste. Perform in‑process inspections and ensure parts meet visual acceptance standards. Produce parts in the proper quantity as identified by the production schedule. Perform pre‑operation activities to ensure equipment is ready. Adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately and timely according to specifications. Follow operational procedures to maintain product quality. Meet key performance indicators for safety, quality, production, efficiency, and service. Report material utilization and ensure production reports are accurate and current. Identify proper tooling, inspect molds and component parts for damage and wear, and notify lead for maintenance or replacement as needed. Maintain a clean work area and comply with 6‑S standards. Communicate effectively with team members and support staff; demonstrate professional attitude and support for leads, supervisors, and managers. Show flexibility and willingness to assist in any capacity to support continuous production and high quality outcomes. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED required; job experience may be considered in lieu. Associate degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school preferred. Prior experience operating manufacturing and process control equipment required. Experience with injection mold or related machine operation required. Forklift, reach truck, or cherry picker certification required. Licenses None. Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge Problem‑solving with limited standardization. Interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Identify and resolve problems promptly. Gather and analyze information skillfully. Develop alternative solutions and collaborate on group problem solving. Apply reason in emotional contexts. Read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic drawings and prints. Physical Requirements Medium work: exerting up to 50 lb occasionally, 20 lb frequently, and 10 lb constantly. Physical Activities Climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, crawling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Visual Acuity Close visual acuity required for tasks such as data preparation, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, visual inspection of small defects or parts, and use of measurement devices. Working Conditions Exposure to inside and outside environmental conditions, heat, noise, vibration, and other hazards typical of a production environment.
