Registered Nurse - Danville State Hospital - 12HRS - (2nd shift)

Overview The Department of Human Services, Danville State Hospital provides dedicated, high‑quality care to the people who call Danville State home. We are seeking hard‑working, enthusiastic, compassionate, and caring Registered Nurses who are committed to providing exceptional care to our consumers. Responsibilities Provide professional nursing care and treatment services. Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, and/or mental health status. Utilize nursing diagnosis and treatment to develop and implement individual treatment plans. Document psychiatric care in correlation with treatment plan performance goals. Act as charge nurse, directing and coordinating nursing care delivery on an assigned unit, applying professional and psychiatric nursing concepts, techniques, and procedures. Work Schedule and Additional Information Full‑time employment. Shifts: 2nd shift (six 6:45 pm‑7:15 am shifts plus one 2:45 pm‑11:15 pm shift, 30‑minute lunch) with $1.25 / hr shift differential. Rotating schedule, working every other weekend and holidays as assigned. New hires may be eligible for a $1,000 Retention Incentive Payment, provided all criteria in the current Collective Bargaining Agreement are met. Multiple positions may be filled from this posting. Qualifications and Requirements Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania. Employees with an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure within one year as defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. PA residency requirement is waived for this title. Graduating within 60 days from an approved nursing school qualifies; upon appointment must show proof of current PA temporary practice permit or PA RN license. Must be able to perform essential job functions. Conditional offer of employment requires satisfactory completion of a medical examination and drug screening. Position falls under the Older Adult Protective Services Act; requires submission of satisfactory criminal history reports, including PA State Police and FBI clearance. Veteran Preference Pennsylvania law provides employment preference for qualified veterans for many state and local government jobs.
