Join our Team at Asteria Gardens! We are seeking compassionate and detail-oriented Medication Aide / Caregivers to provide essential medication management and resident care for a new senior living facility. The ideal candidate will assist with medication administration, monitor patient health, and support residents with their daily needs, ensuring compliance with all healthcare regulations and confidentiality standards. This role is vital in promoting safe, effective, and respectful care for our residents, particularly those with complex medical conditions such as dementia, Alzheimer's, or chronic illnesses.

Duties

• Administer prescribed medications accurately to residents following physician orders and facility protocols.
• Observe and document residents’ responses to medications, vital signs, and overall health status using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Assist residents with personal care activities including hygiene, mobility, and feeding, especially those requiring specialized care.
• Monitor for adverse reactions or side effects of medications and report findings promptly to nursing staff or supervisors.
• Maintain detailed and compliant medical records while ensuring resident confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Support residents with memory care, dementia care, and behavioral needs by applying specialized techniques for Alzheimer’s and hospice care.
• Follow all safety procedures including manual handling, heavy lifting when necessary, and first aid protocols to ensure a safe environment for residents and staff.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare teams regarding patient care plans, medication schedules, and changes in condition.
• Ensure compliance with state healthcare regulations and the State Board of Nursing standards during medication administration and resident interactions.

Qualifications

• Experience is preferred but we will train the right candidate.
• Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home & community care environments is highly Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and senior/geriatric patient care practices.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or in hospice care is advantageous.
• Familiarity with medical documentation standards is required, including Service Plans.
• Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting when necessary while maintaining safety standards.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification is preferred, can be obtained after starting work; additional certifications in basic life support (BLS) are a plus.
• Strong communication skills for caregiver interaction and resident engagement while maintaining patient confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
• Knowledge of state healthcare regulations governing medication administration and resident rights.
• Must be able to lift 45lbs, stand and walk for 8 hours.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
