Finance Coordinator

OVERVIEW
The Finance Coordinator will work with other members of the business office to accomplish tasks related to Medicaid billing and collections. This position will also handle various clerical and billing functions, and ensures financial eligibility or various government programs and to ensure proper payments to Nursing Home.RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages the day to day operations of the Business Office Financial Interview for Medicaid application process Attend weekly department meetings to identify potential Medicaid application recipients Discuss with Private Pay residents' financial options in a timely manner Educate residents and families about income payments/ NAMI in a timely manner Assist with monthly billing of Private and NAMI Assist with collections of Private and NAMI Having resident/ family/ POA sign authorization and order documents related to the Medicaid application Filing Medicaid application/ conversion through MEDS system Yearly Medicaid re-certifications Follow up and correspond with local HRA Handle all rejected, deferred applications in a timely manner File Fair Hearing and attend if necessary Identify budget discrepancies and correct when necessary Assist with enrollments/ disenrollments HMO/MLTC Collect private/ NAMI payments as necessary Apply for Representative Payee as necessary Submit Social Security Annual Report Guardianship petitions when necessary Assist with processing Direct Deposit forms for residents income ( Social Security and Pensions) Attend monthly A/R meetings Attend weekly UR meetings Handles all resident banking including check cashing, distribution of funds to residents, timely notification to Corporate of disbursements Assist with all aspect of Medicaid (Applications, renewals) Meet with resident and or responsible representative for Medicaid eligibility Identify residents in need of financial supervision (Guardianships) Identify NAMI discrepancies and correct Assist in the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) process. Other duties as needed to ensure department operates at maximum efficiencyQUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or related subject Prior experience within the skilled nursing, long-term care industry Must have strong organizational skills Must be able to do account reconciliations Able to communicate effectively with Medicaid RepresentativesSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a health care setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the care center. Incumbent may be exposed to virus, disease and infection from patients and specimens in working environment. Incumbent may be required to work extended periods of time at a video display terminal. Incumbent may experience traumatic situations, including psychiatric, and deceased patients.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.TRAVEL
