Construction Safety Lead

We are currently looking for a Construction Safety Lead to work on a long term Data Center project, based in Lytle, Texas.

This is freelance role.

Role Purpose:

Serve as the primary Owner’s Representative (OR) and site authority for all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) performance across the VCN1A project lifecycle. This role is responsible for auditing, enforcing, and partnering with the General Contractor (GC) to cultivate a world-class safety culture that meets or exceeds Google’s Global EHS Standards, local regulations, and site-specific safety plans.

Scope of Work:

• Safety Governance & Auditing: Conduct daily comprehensive site safety walks, high-risk work inspections (e.g., energized electrical work, confined spaces, heavy lifts), and enforce immediate corrective actions on non-compliant conditions or behaviors.
• GC & Subcontractor Oversight: Review, challenge, and approve the GC’s Site-Specific Safety Plan (SSSP), Method Statements, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) for high-risk data center construction activities.
• Incident Management & Root Cause Analysis: Lead and facilitate the investigation of all site incidents, first-aids, and near-misses. Partner with the GC’s safety team to perform thorough Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and ensure "Lessons Learned" are institutionalized across the site.
• Cross-Functional Communication: Serve as the single point of contact for safety updates to Google Regional EHS leads, Project Managers, and site leadership. Generate weekly/monthly safety performance metrics, dashboard updates, and leading indicator reports.

Training & Onboarding Audit:

Monitor and audit the GC’s safety onboarding, tool-box talks, and specialized training certifications (e.g., NFPA 70E, rigging, scaffolding) to ensure 100% compliance for all personnel on site.
